CASQUE and CASQUE HMG

CASQUE has realisation in three main components:

Active Processor token (CASQUE Responder),
Standalone Administration System (SAS);
Server Host Routines /API.

Current Implementations include CASQUE commercial and CASQUE HMG version that utilise the CASQUE Optical Responder Tokens. Designs are underway to develop an option for the CASQUE Responder to also receive challenges via Bluetooth.

A special version of the commercial product has been examined and certified by CESG, part of GCHQ, the UK government's information security establishment, and a product range "CASQUE HMG" has been developed for use by UK Government funded organisations and, by heads of agreement, other EEC governments.

Users can access the system wherever they happen to be, providing they have their CASQUE Optical Responder and a light-emitting screen eg CRT workstations, TFT laptops or PDAs or Next Generation screens eg PDPs (Plasma), FEDs (Field Emission), or LEPs (Polymer).

Challenges can be formulated to dumb, vt100 like terminals, Workstations running Internet browsers or Workstations running Windows (/95/98/NT/2000,XP).

CASQUE benefits are:
  • CASQUE does not need to interfere with the user workstation operating system or hard disk
  • CASQUE operates at highest layer: -- it does not disturb firewalls, IP configurations, network topologies
  • CASQUE does not need special smart card or biometric readers
  • CASQUE Responders are not necessarily restricted because they do not contain complete keys
  • CASQUE has no built in time expiry and has no time synchronisation difficulties
  • CASQUE does not need for special operating system agents to be deployed
  • CASQUE is not dependent on public/private key technology and does not need certificates nor third party issuing authorities
  • CASQUE allows users to move from NT to Linux to Sun with no need to purchase new licences

CASQUE will allow you to replace, move, update your workstations, your communications infrastructures; add new hosts; new users; new applications but still retain your investment in the CASQUE architecture with administration undertaken completely in-house
